Yes, it's almost time for NaNoWriMo again!
I've noticed that Terri Deno wants to give it a try, as does Sara Lundberg. I wish you both the best. I hardly have time to write these blog posts. Perhaps I will once I've retired from my day job. Then again, it would be nice to take a real vacation.
If anyone is interested, there's still time to sign up. Here's a map the NaNoWriMo folks provide to give you an idea where the writers are located.
If you don't want to write, you can volunteer to help out.

Anyway, this is just to let everyone know NaNoWriMo is coming! Me? I've buying futures in coffee beans. The amount of caffeine consumed is bound to go up in the next month. So, to all you participants, good luck!

I started at more than 10 days in last year and managed 25K I think. It was my 3rd attempt but I have yet to manage 50K. I struggle after the first week or so. You do better with blog posts than me! I use Mid Week Flash as a way to 'force' me to write regularly, and i have been really enjoying it.
ReplyDeleteI am trying NaNo again this year - because why not. But I will be going over to Edinburgh (from here in Holland where I live) at the end of November for a friend's book launch, so that will potentially stop any rhythm I might have achieved by then. Chances of me writing enough to cover those days is unlikely at this point. But I'll give it my best shot.
25K is probably better than I've don't for the whole year so far! I have so many short stories that are half (or quarter) done I've taken my "Works In Process" page down. Too many things keep taking up my time. Like my day job, for instance. Why they expect me to work for them when I have a story deadline coming is beyond me.
DeleteAnyway, keep us posted on your progress. Even if you only get part of your story down, it's a great head start on finishing it later! Good luck with the book launch - hope it does well for your friend. Let me know and I'll post something for it on here.

No NaNo for me this year. It's taken all I have to keep up with the 12/12 short story challenge from Writers write. I even took a day off work one month in order to meet the deadline! Then, as I ran out of vacation time, more than once I've had to write fast, skip editing, and post within hours of the deadline. I so admire writers who hold down a job, live a life, AND consistently put pen to paper!
